We hope we can make the process a little clearer and help you find the right care for the person who matters to you.

Families first

What families say.

“Searching for respite care near my mum's place in Falkirk felt daunting, but the postcode search on YourCareHome cut through the noise in minutes. We compared three homes the same evening, booked two visits that week, and mum was settled by the end of the month. The Care Inspectorate report links on each listing were a brilliant touch — we felt informed, not sold to.”

David H · Scotland

“Finding dementia-specialist care for my father-in-law across three different London boroughs turned into a huge task. YourCareHome was the only site that showed every registered home — not just the ones paying to be featured. I trusted the results because they weren't filtered by advertising budget.”

Priya K · England

“We'd been putting off the conversation about my nan's care until it became unavoidable. What helped was sitting down as a family with YourCareHome open and going through homes together. Seeing ratings, facilities and recent inspection dates side-by-side turned a stressful decision into a shared one.”

Tom R · England

What do the ratings mean?

OutstandingGoodRequires improvementInadequate

There’s no single UK-wide care rating. England’s CQC uses the four above; Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland grade differently. Every listing shows its own regulator’s words, never our score.

How quickly can someone move in?

Faster than most people fear. Many homes offer respite and short-stay places that can take someone within days, and a short stay works as a trial before any longer decision.

Common questions

Is YourCareHome free for families to use?

Yes. Searching, comparing and enquiring are free. You never pay to use the site.

How are care homes rated?

Ratings come directly from the official regulator for each nation: the CQC in England, the Care Inspectorate in Scotland, CIW in Wales and RQIA in Northern Ireland. They are shown in the regulator's own words, and no provider can pay to change, soften or hide them.

Do care homes pay to be listed?

Every regulated care home is listed free. A provider can pay for an Advanced listing, which gives their page more prominence and makes it solely about their home, with no adverts, no nearby homes and no comparisons with others. It never changes their regulator rating.

How do I contact a home?

Send an enquiry through the home's page, or reveal its phone number to call the home directly. Your enquiry goes to that home. We don't run any care homes ourselves.

Can someone recommend a home for me?

The free shortlist tool asks a few quick questions and matches homes near you by location, care type and your needs, or the home care shortlist if you are looking for care at home instead. However, we do not advise as we believe the best people to guide you are the care homes themselves.

Which areas do you cover?

Every registered care home across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
