Mar Lodge supports adults with learning disabilities who need varying levels of support to acquire and develop life and social skills, in order to achieve their optimum level of independence.

Overview of service

The support at Mar Lodge is delivered by dedicated and professional multi-disciplinary team committed to providing quality care focused on the needs of the individual. We believe in a personalised approach and everyone living at Mar Lodge has their own Person Centred Plan which is reviewed regularly. Our aim is to provide the highest quality support enabling individuals to build on skills, live more independently and reach their goals.

Individual choice is paramount and they are actively encouraged to make informed choices and maintain independence. A key worker is assigned to each resident ensuring a holistic approach to individual care.

We encourage individuals and families to actively participate in the planning of support, which is facilitated through individual/relatives meeting where information is provided. We work closely with local services such as the community learning disability team, community nurses, psychologists, speech therapists, local health centres, dental, chiropody and other health care services.

What it's like to live here

Everyone is given the opportunity to exercise their choice and become involved in a wide range of activities, including accessing local day centres, colleges and work placements within the community. Individuals are also encouraged to access the local leisure facilities including swimming, the cinema and theatre. Many in-house activities are offered, including art and craft sessions, cooking, board games, puzzles, darts and table tennis.

People are encouraged to pursue and retain their own interests. One-to-one support is provided where required and all activities are arranged to meet their individual needs.

Surroundings

Mar Lodge which benefits from a regular public transport system, is approximately half a mile from the centre of Melton Mowbray, in Leicestershire.

Service facilities

Mar Lodge has been tastefully decorated throughout with individual decor to each bedroom to meet the requirements and needs of each individual. There is a large lounge, a dining room, kitchen and laundry room. There is a small, contained garden at the front of the house and at the back, a conservatory which leads out to a raised garden and patio area.
