The Lodge provides support for people with mental illnesses, learning disabilities and autism. We specialise in supporting people with Asperger Syndrome and challenging behaviour. We do everything we can to improve the health and wellbeing of the individuals we support and as a team we are focused on building positive outcomes for everyone.
Overview of Service
The service offers homely accommodation for adults with learning disabilities. The support is delivered as part of a Multi Disciplinary Team approach, designed according to individual needs and wishes. Alongside mandatory training, staff members undertake specialist training courses relevant to their role, such as counselling.
Everyone is encouraged to be involved in their Person Centred Plans and risk assessments. The Lodge promotes Craegmoor's communication strategy, "Your Voice", which encourages individuals, based on their preferred method of communication, to voice their views about the support they receive.
What it's Like to Live Here
The people that we support are encouraged through their Person Centred Plans to achieve their goals and aspirations. For some people this means attending college to access various courses, including cooking, art and daily living skills. For others it means work placements and other day opportunities in line with their goals.
Within the service we continually and consistently promote the development of social skills, independent living and personal responsibility. This includes daily living skills such as shopping, cooking, doing laundry and cleaning, and tasks are dependent upon an individual's ability. The people who live here are very proud of their home as they have so much involvement in creating it.
Surroundings
The Lodge has good access to buses and trains. Cribbs Causeway is just a short drive away. There are some major tourist attractions surrounding the service, including the beautiful coastal shores. There are nearby cinemas, bowling alleys and clubs.
Service Facilities
The Lodge has 10 rooms, 4 with en-suite facilities and 2 separate bungalows in the grounds of the main house, where people are supported to live more independently.
Communal areas include a relaxation room, 2 lounges, a kitchen, a dining room and a laundry room. There are 3 communal bathrooms.
Staff encourage and support people to cook their own meals. Everyone is supported and encouraged to personalise their bedrooms.
The medium-sized garden is used for playing outdoor sports, picnics and playing games.
