At Oaks and Woodcroft we provide support for people with profound learning disabilities. We do everything we can to improve the health and wellbeing of the individuals we support and as a team we are focused on building positive outcomes for everyone.

Overview of Service

At Oaks and Woodcroft we provide 24 hour support for people with profound learning disabilities. The service is made up of 2 bungalows, each supporting up to 6 people. People are supported by a friendly, well trained and professional staff team, who are able to undertake a full range of health and social care assessments.

Oaks and Woodcroft promotes Craegmoor's communication strategy, "Your Voice", which encourages individuals, based on their preferred method of communication, to voice their views about the support they receive. Monthly meetings are held where individuals are able to represent the views and voices of others living at the service.

What it's Like to Live Here

The people that we support are encouraged through their Person Centred Plans to achieve their goals and aspirations. For some people this means attending college to access various courses, including cooking, art and daily living skills. For others it means work placements and other day opportunities in line with their goals.

We often go for meals and drinks out and attend coffee mornings. Within the service we continually and consistently promote the development of social skills, independent living and personal responsibility. These include daily skills such as shopping, cooking, doing laundry and cleaning, and tasks are dependent upon each individual's ability. The people who live here are very proud of their home as they have so much involvement in creating it.

Surroundings

Oaks and Woodcroft is situated in the village of Mattishall, 15 miles west of Norwich city centre and 5 miles from Dereham. Mattishall has a post office, a doctors' surgery, a pharmacy, a public house, 4 hairdressers, 2 small grocery stores, a butchers and 5 churches of different denominations.

Service Facilities

Oaks and Woodcroft is made up of 2 bungalows. Everyone has their own bedroom, which they are encouraged and supported to personalise.

The bungalows share a large garden to the rear of the properties and there is car parking to the front. There is also an area where people can grow their own vegetables.
