At Rosehill we provide a multi-disciplinary rehabilitation service for people with head injuries or disabilities requiring neurological rehabilitation. We focus on enablement and the regaining of daily living skills to help people return to living independently in the community. The service offers homely accommodation for up to 14 adults in the coastal town of Torquay, where our experienced and dedicated staff provide friendly and outcome-driven support.
The team at Rosehill works with everyone in a person centred way to identify individual goals and ambitions, focusing on enablement and the promotion of independence in a safe environment with dignity and respect. The aim wherever possible is to support people to return to community living.
What it's like to live here
The focus of the service is rehabilitation re-ablement and reintegration. Everyone is encouraged to make best use of their current abilities and to re-learn the skills they need to live as independently as possible. In conjunction with each individual, our activities co-ordinator organises a wide range of daily activities both in and out of the service. People can choose to help out in the garden, go swimming, bowling or shopping, or go on trips to the theatre and outings to the pub. Everyone living at Rosehill is actively encouraged to participate in their own support plans being assisted in identifying and achieving their short and longer term goals and ambitions.
Rosehill promotes Craegmoor’s communication strategy ‘Your Voice’, which encourages everyone, based on their preferred method of communication, to voice their views about the support they receive. We also support individuals to access external opportunities on subjects of interest including music, art, communication, fishing, cooking, relaxation, arts and crafts, dancing or gardening.
Surroundings
Rosehill Rehabilitation Unit is situated in a quiet residential area in Torquay, close to local shops and amenities and within easy reach of the coast.
Service facilities
The service has recently undergone an internal refurbishment to provide 14 mostly en-suite bedrooms, wet rooms with disabled access and a hydrotherapy bathroom with piped music and subdued lighting. There are lots of communal areas for relaxation or activities, including an activity room with computer access and a large garden with decked area. Rosehill has a skills kitchen where people can relearn and practice their cooking skills. Three rooms also have small kitchen areas where people can prepare meals as part of their rehabilitation. At Rosehill there is a choice of vehicles adapted to provide wheelchair access to support everyone to use community facilities.
