Woolston Road is a large detached property offering support for six individuals with a learning disability and additional needs. The home is situated in a residential street in the village of Netley Abbey near Southampton.

The people living at Woolston Road enjoy very active days and access to a variety of local facilities with support including swimming, rambling, cookery classes, pubs and the cinema. There is also a strong focus on development of daily living skills.

The individuals living at Woolston Road have access to a minibus for getting out and about and the home is also close to public transport links. 

The service has a strong focus on person centred planning and the staff team work to ensure close links with the community enabling the people we support to access opportunities for education and leisure pursuits.

Our Staff

The staff team at Woolston Road encourage each person to have a fulfilling and active lifestyle. The team are very skilled in supporting individuals with routines and structure as well as setting clear boundaries.

Staff are trained and skilled in working with individuals with Autism, Prader Willi Syndrome and associated communication needs. In addition the staff team have also been trained in NVCI (non violent crises intervention).

The home manager has a number of years’ experience managing social care services and has a wealth of knowledge and experience in working with individuals with learning disabilities, mental health needs and forensic background and supporting individuals with behavioural needs.

Our Location

Woolston Road is set in a residential street in the village of Netley Abbey near to Southampton. The home is easily accessed by public transport with a bus stop right outside the front door and the train station only a five minute walk from the home.

The village Buttlock Heath with local shops and a pub is a short walk away from the home and the seaside just a 10 minute drive from the home.

The home is also ideally located with The Royal Victoria Country Park and Hamble Marina right on their door step and great accessibility to Southampton City.   Local colleges and day services are also easy accessible by either car or public transport.

Our Environment

Woolston Road offers a large living space with plenty of communal areas and wide corridors. The communal areas and gardens are fully accessible to those with additional mobility needs.

The home has a large lounge with French doors leading to a generous sized back garden. The home has a second lounge which is also used as a games room and can offer additional space to those who want to have some quiet time. The second lounge also has a ramp way leading to the back garden. The back garden has a lawn and a patio area ideal for summer barbecues!

The home also has a large kitchen and a separate dining room which leads on to an enclosed courtyard. The courtyard is a fully paved area which offers an additional large enclosed outdoor space.

The bedrooms are spacious and all have en-suite bath or shower rooms. Two bedrooms are on the ground floor and four bedrooms are on the first floor which can be accessed by two staircases or a lift. Everyone living at Woolston Road is encouraged to decorate and personalise their bedroom according to their tastes.
