Qualified nursing staff provide 24 hour support alongside a dedicated staff team who are experienced in working with people with learning disabilities who have a whole range of complex needs. The home is also supported by a physiotherapist and an occupational therapist. Staff training is tailored to the needs of the people they support to ensure they have the skills to meet people’s support needs.

The service has a range of specialist equipment and specialities to cater for people’s mobility needs, including adapted bathrooms and overhead hoists in bathrooms and bedrooms. The service has space to provide for standing frames, walking aids, adapted leisure chairs and wheelchairs.

Melbreck has its own on site day service, with a physiotherapy unit and a range of day activities, a pool, sensory room, accessible gardens and two accessible vehicles which enable people to access community activities every day.

A number of people use the local resource centre for hydrotherapy, communication sessions, self-advocacy, drama, arts and crafts, outward bound and other leisure activities.
