Collinson Court provides support and accommodation for individuals with Autism and challenging behaviour. We provide quality support that is based on respect for individuals and their right to make choices. Our support is focused on individual needs and enabling people to live as independently as possible.
Overview of Service
We support adults aged 18-65 who have Autism, learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. Collinson Court is accredited with the National Autistic Society and the support we provide is delivered as part of a Multi Disciplinary Team approach, designed according to individual needs and wishes. We provide specialist training for the staff at Collinson Court, including Person Centred Thinking, behaviour management, speech, signs and symbols / Makaton sign language and sensory awareness, to provide the best possible support for all individuals.
We work with other community health services including GPs, psychiatrists, the community learning disability team, occupational therapists and physiotherapists, to provide holistic support for everyone.
All individuals are encouraged to be involved in their Person Centred Plans and risk assessments. Collinson Court promotes Craegmoor's communication strategy, "Your Voice", which encourages individuals, based on their preferred method of communication, to voice their views about the support they receive.
Individuals' families are invited to come to the house, and everyone at Collinson Court values their support.
What it's Like to Live Here
The people that we support are encouraged through their Person Centred Plans to achieve their goals and aspirations. For some people this means attending college to access various courses, including cooking, art and daily living skills. For others it means work placements and other day opportunities in line with their goals.
Within the service we continually and consistently promote the development of social skills, independent living and personal responsibility. This includes daily skills such as shopping, cooking, doing laundry and cleaning, and tasks are dependent upon an individual's ability. The people who live here are very proud of their home as they have so much involvement in creating it.
