Autistic spectrum disorders, Behavioural support, Learning disability, Mental health
At Edgecumbe House we provide care and support for ten people with a mild to moderate learning disability and autistic spectrum disorders and have lots of experience of supporting people with complex or challenging needs.
The service is in a residential area of Rotherham with views over Clifton Park, yet is only ten minutes walk from the town centre and has excellent transport connections.
Everyone is encouraged to participate in a programme of activities that reflects their individual choices and preferences. We have strong links with the community and access local facilities. Some of the people we support attend college, others have work placements or work voluntarily at an animal shelter.
We recognise the importance of relationships with family and friends and visitors are welcome at any reasonable time. We also support people to develop new friendships. We encourage everyone to participate in house meetings and become involved in recruiting new staff, if they wish.
Edgecumbe House is a large Edwardian House. The bedrooms and communal areas are spacious and well-furnished.
There are ten bedrooms; all have en-suite facilities and three have kitchens to facilitate progress towards semi-independent living. The service has a sensory room.
There is a large mature garden surrounding the property, and areas of this have been developed as sensory gardens.
