At Dinorwic Road we support people with learning disabilities who may also have complex communication and behavioural support needs. We aim to provide a safe and homely environment, where everyone can make their own choices about the care and support they receive.

Overview of Service

At Dinorwic Road we support 3 people with learning disabilities who may also have complex communication and behavioural support needs.

Everyone is involved in designing their own Person Centred Plan, with support from our friendly and dedicated staff team. Each plan is tailored to suit individual needs and is designed to enable everyone to make their own choices about the care and support they receive. We encourage and support everyone living at Dinorwic Road to recognise and identify their goals and ambitions and how they would like to go about achieving them.

Dinorwic Road supports Craegmoor's communication strategy, "Your Voice", which encourages individuals, based on their preferred method of communication, to voice their views about the support they receive. Monthly meetings are held where individuals are able to represent the views and voices of others living at the service. This is extended to area, divisional and national level.

What it is Like to Live Here

Everyone living at Dinorwic Road has a wide variety of activities they can get involved with, both in and out of the service. Individuals are encouraged to be involved in choosing their own annual holiday; deciding on the location, type of holiday and additional outings and activities they wish to take part in.

Individuals are encouraged through their Person Centred Plans to achieve their goals and aspirations. For some people this means attending college courses to develop daily living skills and improving literacy and numeracy, for others it means work placements.

Within the house we continually and consistently promote the development of social skills, independent living and personal responsibility. These include daily living skills such as shopping, cooking, doing laundry and cleaning; tasks are dependent upon an individual's ability. The people who live here are very proud of their home as they have so much involvement in creating it.

Surroundings

Dinorwic Road is close to Southport town centre and has great access to local amenities like shops, pubs, a cinema and a theatre. There are also a number of parks and nature reserves in the area and attractions such as Knowsley Safari Park, a fun fair and the Space Port.

Service Facilities

Everyone at Dinorwic Road has their own single bedroom and we encourage and support people to personalise their rooms.

Dinorwic Road has a large garden, with a patio which is ideal for BBQs and picnics during the summer.
