·Ashbury Lodge is located in Marlborough Road, near Coate Water Country Park. ·Shops and all local amenities including G.P Surgery, Chemist, Dentist and Post Office to mention just a few are within a twenty-minute walk or five-minute bus ride from the home. ·Public Transport into the main town of Swindon is available from the bus stop outside the main entrance. ·Ashbury Lodge has a total of forty, four of them being shared and 6 with en-suite facilities. In the reality of personality differences, discourses or a range of company which individuals seek plus the variety of ages and social activities catered for in the home, the home identifies a need for a variety of meeting places, either for TV viewing, conversation, radio listening or peace. The home provides three large lounges, a lounge/dining room, and two dining rooms, which should cover the range of activity envisaged by the clients. There are 2 bathrooms and 2 shower rooms, which include WC’s, plus 10 additional WC’s. This caters for the individuals who have a preference for an alternative form of hygiene and cleanliness. ·The home provides fully furnished accommodation, and linen. (bedding, towels, and face flannels). ·The community nursing team will provide aids and equipment. Should equipment be needed that is not supplied by this service and the item is needed specifically for an individual, they will be expected to meet the cost. ·Domestic staff are employed daily to maintain the cleanliness of the home. ·The home is heated to a minimum of 21degrees, and all radiators have thermostats so that temperatures may be controlled in individual areas. All communal rooms and bedrooms have opening windows for ventilation. The first floor windows are fitted with restrictors, and only open to a maximum of eight inches. ·Fire alarms are tested weekly by our Fire Marshall, and quarterly by a qualified Electrical Engineer. The system is serviced annually. All fire extinguishers are also serviced annually. Regular fire lectures are given and all of the staff receive quarterly Fire drills, and also on induction.
Ashbury Lodge is a Residential Car Home providing long-term care for twenty five mentally ill, elderly adults of both sexes over the age of 65, (only under special circumstances, under 65) who suffer from varying degrees of mental illness, and 19 elderly care places for both sexes of the same age group. The home provides 24-hour supervision and personal care where necessary, a haven which gives protection and support to our residents. While encouraging residents to live as full, interesting and independent a lifestyle as possible with rules and regulations being kept to a minimum.
