Glebe House is a modern purpose designed care home situated in the village of Southbourne, close to Chichester. The home is set in extensive grounds and is within walking distance of shops and local facilities. We offer the highest possible standards of care and support to older people within spacious, modern yet homely and safe surroundings. Our central philosophy is to see beyond the aging process, recognise the wider needs of the individual and provide support to enable them to remain as independent as possible. As well as developing friendships in the home we encourage residents to establish and maintain close links with their relatives, friends and the local community. To achieve this we use a person centred approach to care in which every resident has a named carer and is offered high levels of support on an individual basis. Glebe House is registered to provide residential care for 40 elderly frail residents.
Moving into residential or nursing care can be a difficult decision but is often necessary for older people who can no longer manage on their own or with the help of relatives, friends or other carers. But in Shaw care homes our friendly professional staff are trained to make the transition hassle free and ensure that independence and the key components of daily living are maintained as much as possible. We aim to provide you with choices - over your personal care, what and when you eat, whether you want some peace and quiet or to join in a range of social activities. All this is provided in homely and comfortable surroundings - and with your own private bedroom. There are two types of care home, those which provide personal care only and those which also provide nursing care. All homes provide meals, laundry service and personal care such as help with washing, dressing, general mobility and day-to-day tasks. Nursing homes provide all of these services but additionally they employ registered, trained nurses who are able to provide health-related care. Government assistance with the cost of this nursing care is available to everyone and is not means-tested.
