The Ledbury Nursing home forms part of the Ledbury Community Care Centre which also has outpatients departments (including chiropody and radiology), intermediate care beds, GP surgery, NHS Dentist and acquired brain injury unit. The home is located right in the centre of Ledbury allowing easy access to shops and local amenities as well as the opportunity to ‘watch the world go by’ from one of the numerous lounges. There is a secure and sheltered garden in the centre of the home and plenty of activities on offer within the home. Each resident has their own bedroom with ensuite facilities as well as telephone and television points. The windows in all bedrooms are large and low allowing residents to take in the view when sitting in an armchair or even in bed. Our skilled team of nurses and care workers provide whatever specialist care a resident may require and even before someone comes in to the home one of our senior staff will visit them in their own home to find out exactly what type of care the person needs and to make sure that we can provide it – we almost always can. Each resident’s care needs are regularly reviewed and residents and their relatives are consulted and involved in the planning of their care at every stage.
Moving into residential or nursing care can be a difficult decision but is often necessary for older people who can no longer manage on their own or with the help of relatives, friends or other carers. But in Shaw care homes our friendly professional staff are trained to make the transition hassle free and ensure that independence and the key components of daily living are maintained as much as possible. We aim to provide you with choices - over your personal care, what and when you eat, whether you want some peace and quiet or to join in a range of social activities. All this is provided in homely and comfortable surroundings - and with your own private bedroom. There are two types of care home, those which provide personal care only and those which also provide nursing care. All homes provide meals, laundry service and personal care such as help with washing, dressing, general mobility and day-to-day tasks. Nursing homes provide all of these services but additionally they employ registered, trained nurses who are able to provide health-related care. Government assistance with the cost of this nursing care is available to everyone and is not means-tested.
