Specialises in: Acquired brain injury, Autistic spectrum disorders, Behavioural support, Learning disability, Mental health
At Hunters Lodge we can provide support for ten people with a learning disability, mental health needs, an acquired brain injury or multiple complex needs.
The service is set in four acres of woodland, orchard and gardens and is located in a rural area on the fringe of a village. We frequently access facilities in Hereford, which is nearby.
The service has a warm, friendly atmosphere, which is often commented on by visitors and other professionals. We have a good relationship with people in the area and regularly use local shops, pubs and churches and taking part in activities. Several individuals attend college courses and others have jobs at a charity shop and a horse rescue centre.
We want each person to feel happy and secure and be able try new things, if they wish. We adopt a ‘never say never’ attitude which encourages each individual to reach their personal goals, however difficult they may seem.
Staff work as a team and have a great knowledge and understanding of each person’s needs, as well as empathy and a good sense of humour.
Everyone living at Hunters Lodge is given the opportunity to be involved in staff selection and the interview process. We hold regular house meetings which enable people to comment on how the service is run, and individuals know they can speak to the manager if they have any questions or things they would like to raise.
Hunters Lodge is full of character, having been converted from a former Victorian coach house and stable block. The service has ten ground floor bedrooms, each with its own en-suite facilities with a bath or shower. There are extensive gardens where we grow organic produce.
