Quiet Waters offers support to six young adults with a learning disability and associated needs. The service provides a warm, welcoming and open environment and supports the people who libe herein learning and developing new skills and experiencing new opportunities.
The service is situated in West Horndon, Brentwood and is a ten minute walk from the town centre, where numerous shops and amenities are available. People who access the service at Quiet Waters are supported in choosing and accessing a range of group and individual activities within the community. These may include shopping, swimming, bowling and visiting places of interest, parks, cinemas and pubs.
Brentwood holds local clubs and activities for people with learning disabilities; these are provided by a partnership called Frontline, who offer exercise, employment, drop in clubs and lunch clubs. Other activities tailored to specific health and educational needs will be identified through assessment and detailed in an individual’s care plan. We give everyone the opportunity to develop through education and training. Courses people have previously accessed include sports fitness, maths, English, art, gardening and travel awareness.
While at the service, the staff ensure that each person's daily routine is maintained. This includes providing transport so that individuals can attend regular day care or college.
The service has six single rooms, all of which have en-suite facilities. Each person is encouraged to personalise their bedroom according to their own needs and tastes. Social areas include a lounge, a dining room, a quiet room, an activity room and a kitchen, which everyone can use with supervision and support.
The staff team are supported by a range of external medical professionals, occupational therapists, psychologists and psychiatrists, as well as families, friends and advocates, to achieve the best possible outcome for those living at Quiet Waters.
