Set in a conservation area in Exeter, this nursing home offers total care for 27 residents. Woodhayes is set in the delightful St Leonard''s district of Exeter and has a character all of its own. It consists of two large Victorian listed houses which have been converted into a single home offering residential and nursing care for 27 people, and its aim is to enable older people to live independent, happy and fulfilling lives.
Woodhayes provides a home where older people can be helped to live as normally as possible and where the emphasis is on quality and enjoyment of life. The staff offer highly skilled nursing care when necessary, and are proud to do so in an atmosphere where residents can feel they are still in charge of their own lives. The original nature of the buildings has been maintained as far as possible and, with its large reception rooms, classical veranda and mature gardens, the Home has a unique atmosphere. Each room is different, with its own particular character, and so can reflect the personality of each resident. The Home''s philosophy is that residents should be able to make decisions for themselves and choose how to spend their time. Many of them enjoy going out, joining in activities or just spending time with each other. There are regular visitors to the Home which enjoys strong links with the local community and an active group of fund-raisers. Led by an enthusiastic and well-qualified Home Manager, the staff at Woodhayes work as a close team and are committed to the Brendoncare philosophy. They make every effort to provide care which promotes privacy and dignity, and to understand each resident's needs and preferences. Registered Nurses are always on duty supported by well-trained Care Assistants, and all the staff receive continuous education and development. Local GPs support the Home and visit regularly so that residents can be registered with the doctor of their choice. A chiropodist attends the Home on a regular basis and other services can always be arranged.
