Mountford is a single story purpose built care home situated in a quiet area of Truro. There are two local doctors surgeries, a local library, spectacular cathedral and many well known retail outlets all within close proximity. At Mountford you will always find a friendly, happy and welcoming atmosphere. We have 36 rooms. Prospective residents are encouraged to bring in some of their personal belongings which can help them feel more at home. We have two resident cats whose names are Molly and Chester. We will endeavour to accommodate any new pets, but this does depend on what type of animal you have (big game not acceptable). We find that residents very much enjoy having animals around. There are 3 lounges to sit in comfort and relax and one large dining room. Residents are given a varied menu to choose from and offered wine or sherry with their daily meals. There are 2 garden areas, which are currently undergoing extensive changes, we have been fund raising for a conservatory and decking area which will overlook a sensory garden. The Queen visited Mountford in June 2006 and one of the new garden areas will be named after Queen Elizabeth II in memory of her visit. Mealtimes are flexible and relaxed and families are able to dine with their relatives. Meals are made with fresh ingredients and wherever possible produce is sourced locally. Residents pursue recreational activities, including gardening, crafts and trips out for lunch, evening tea, cinema and local events.

Ninety per cent of staff have completed their NVQ level 2 in Care and Specialist Dementia 1 & 2 training. All staff training is updated on a regular basis, and new or advanced training programs are undertaken as required. We realise that the cost of care can really concern prospective residents and their family members, but we believe we provide an excellent residential home centered on our clients'' individuals needs. Calculation of fees is done with an individual assessment and reviewed on a regular basis. Health professionals visit the home as does a chiropodist on a regular basis. If our clients need to visit the hospital or have any other appointment the home will arrange for them to be escorted. A hairdresser is available 2-3 days per week and daily papers and magazines are delivered. There is also a complementary therapist which residents, staff and family may access.
