The Green was built and opened in 1963 as a 29 bed purpose built home for older people with various types of Dementia. Four additional living ares with en-suite bedrooms were added in 2004 bringing the home up to 45 beds. We have created homely areas within each of the seven living spaces, with seating and kitchen facilities. This helps to create an environment that stimulates life memories for our client group. There is a large reception area for clients and visitors to use which is also used to provide a Day Club. This area is light and spacious and is often used to facilitate the various entertainment that we provide for our clients. We have an enclosed garden area, with raised fish pond and flower beds. There is plenty of seating in this area and clients often have their meals here in the warmer months. This area can be accessed from all of the downstairs lounges. We are a pet friendly home having cats, a budgie and various visiting dogs. The cats are real lap cats, and soon find a friendly place to sit, and the dogs are all cat friendly and enjoy being fussed by staff and clients alike. Our chef and kitchen staff work really hard to provide quality, varied meals using local fresh produce. Choice is offered and all diets catered for. We have a breakfast club running once a week when clients are invited to the Coffee Shop to enjoy bacon and eggs. Clients’ families are also welcome to stay for lunch or tea. We raise money in house for our amenity fund which is used purely for the benefit of our clients and pets. These funds provide entertainment and sight seeing trips in this beautiful part of the county. Each client receives a birthday and Christmas present using these funds. We have a shop in the home which provides basic toiletries and a nice selection of sweets. The shop contains a selection of memorabilia for the clients to look at and handle.

Staff are encouraged to do a wide range of activities with clients for example, cooking, quizzes, card making, flower arranging etc. Our staffing ratios are high to meet the increased needs of our client group.
