Laburnum House provides 24 hour support for 6 adults with learning disabilities, Autism, Epilepsy and challenging behaviour. We aim to provide a safe and homely environment, where all individuals can make their own choices about the support they receive. We do everything we can to improve the health and wellbeing of the individuals we support and as a team we are focused on building positive outcomes for everyone.

What it's Like to Live Here

There are plenty of activities to get involved in at Laburnum House, both in and out of the service. Everybody has an individual activity planner, which is updated on a regular basis, and everyone decides which activities they like and want to do.

Some of the most popular activities are horse riding, swimming, 10 pin bowling and socialising at parties with friends. There are also opportunities to learn cooking skills, join gardening groups and to develop independent living skills.

Some individuals also attend courses at the local college.

Surroundings

Laburnum House is situated in a very quiet area of Folkestone and all amenities are within a 10 minute walking distance; including the town centre, cafes and the main bus station. The service is a 15 minute walk away from a picturesque harbour and the beach

Service Facilities

All bedrooms are personalised and decorated in colours chosen by each person. One of our bedrooms is on the ground floor, opposite the bathroom and is ideal for an individual with mobility problems.

There is a large garden, which is completely enclosed and offers a secure area for people to enjoy outdoor games, such as cricket and other sports. Social events are regularly held in the garden and friends and family can be invited.

Overview of Service

Laburnum House provides 24 hour support for 6 adults with learning disabilities, Autism, Epilepsy and challenging behaviour. All individuals are involved in designing their own Person Centred Plans, with staff support. The Person Centred Plans are tailored to suit individual needs and provide the correct level of support required. The plan enables all individuals to make their own choices about the support they receive. We encourage and support everyone at Laburnum House to recognise and identify their goals and ambitions and how they would like to go about meeting them.

Laburnum House promotes Craegmoor's communication strategy, "Your Voice", which encourages individuals, based on their preferred method of communication, to voice their views about the support they receive. Monthly meetings are held where individuals are able to represent the views and voices of others living at the service.
