Overview of service

The Tides is a specialised service for people with physical disabilities.  The Tides is situated in Poole and is specially designed to support seven people with complex needs.

What it's like to live here

Service users who currently live at The Tides like to help with meal planning, cooking, cleaning, activity planning, socialising and gardening on a regular basis. We provide person centred activities which provide stimulation to the service users sensory needs.

Surroundings

The Tides is a modern detached home situated within walking distance of the shops on the Broadstone Broadway. There is spacious accommodation for seven residents with six rooms having en-suite facilities. The service provides excellent communal facilities including a large lounge and a separate dining room, which is also used for arts and crafts activities. A utility room provides laundry facilities. The construction of a new conservatory in 2011 has provided additional space for dining and creative activities and there is also a lift to the first floor. The service has a very large rear garden, which backs onto the playing fields. Service users are able to assist in growing their own vegetables and salads in a separate plot in the garden. The Tides have a small sensory room with equipment such as bubble tube, fibre optics, disco ball, lighting and mirrors.

Service facilities

We encourage the people we support to personalise their rooms to their own taste as well as to take an active role in the running of the home and to put forward their own ideas at the service user meetings – Your Voice.
