Leadon Bank is a unique modern extra care facility developed and operated by Shaw healthcare in partnership with Herefordshire Council in the historic market town of Ledbury. The care facility comprises 54 one and two bedroomed extra care apartments for sale or to rent to people over 55 years who require some care or support in order to maintain their independence. They enjoy a staffed restaurant and communal lounges and beauty salon and are supported by Shaw's on site concierge and community care teams. There is also a day care centre and a ten bed short stay residential rehabilitation wing with care staff and community therapy professionals helping older people who have been hospitalised to get back on their feet and living independently again as soon as possible.

Moving into residential or nursing care can be a difficult decision but is often necessary for older people who can no longer manage on their own or with the help of relatives, friends or other carers. But in Shaw care homes our friendly professional staff are trained to make the transition hassle free and ensure that independence and the key components of daily living are maintained as much as possible. We aim to provide you with choices - over your personal care, what and when you eat, whether you want some peace and quiet or to join in a range of social activities. All this is provided in homely and comfortable surroundings - and with your own private bedroom. There are two types of care home, those which provide personal care only and those which also provide nursing care. All homes provide meals, laundry service and personal care such as help with washing, dressing, general mobility and day-to-day tasks. Nursing homes provide all of these services but additionally they employ registered, trained nurses who are able to provide health-related care. Government assistance with the cost of this nursing care is available to everyone and is not means-tested.
